FREE PATTERN FRIDAY: Brooke's Blossoms Week FOUR
This week, we will complete two of the three blocks of the Third Border. We will make the Iris and Violet blocks, and make the Orchids next week. Irises are my mom's favorite flowers, and I think the iris block would make an amazing quilt all by itself!
To make this mini quilt, you will need:
-Four Iris blocks from this week's download
Also, from background fabric, cut:
-One square: 5 1/2". This is your center block.
-One square: 9". Cut this square diagonally twice so you have FOUR quarter square triangles. These are your edge blocks.
-One square: 4 3/4". Cut this square diagonally twice so you have FOUR quarter square triangles. These are your corner blocks.
From Yellow (first border), cut:
-Two strips: 1" x 16"
-Two strips: 1" x 17"
From Purple (outer border), cut:
-Two strips: 2" x 17"
-Two strips: 2" x 20"
Assemble your quilt in diagonal rows, then add borders!
About Brooke's Blossoms: This is a medallion quilt that finishes at 62 1/2" square, but contains many options for other sizes and layouts! All blocks are made with Foundation Paper Piecing, and if you're new to FPP, I encourage you to check out my tutorials and tips on Instagram. Follow me: @crankykangaroo, and use #fppcrankykangarootut to find the videos! As we build, you can stop at any point and still have a finished quilt! You can also use the individual blocks in a variety of ways in other layouts or quilts! I will be sharing some mini quilt ideas as we go along!
