FREE PATTERN FRIDAY: Block FOUR of the Mini Stellar Quilt
It's week FOUR of our fun little mini sewalong! I really took my time with this one and tried to enjoy the process. There are no center squares (phew), or a million points meeting at the center, but there are lots of places where accuracy counts. When piecing together each section, don't just rely on the seam allowances and edges for your accuracy. Using a pin, stick the pin from the wrong side of one point, into the right side of the corresponding point of the neighboring section. Use a pin at both ends of the sections to make sure your seams line up. You can also use pins to make sure your checkerboards will line up. For a video showing this process, check out my FPP tutorials on Instagram: #fppcrankykangarootut
If you've really been paying attention, you may notice that the photo of the full quilt is a little different this week. I have changed a few blocks from the original rendering. I had repeated some of the blocks in the original version, and I wanted to replace them with non-repeating designs.
Have fun piecing! Be sure to post your progress, I love to see how everyone is coming along!
About our mini quilt adventure: I have always been intrigued by miniature things, almost as much as I love a good challenge! This little quilt finishes at just under 20 inches, not including borders. If you're interested in piecing this mini with me, check here every Friday for the next block! Today's block is in the left top corner, and is Foundation Paper Pieced. I'm planning on a three color quilt, and I'll need about one yard of each color. Feel free to add your own spin to this quilt, or make it a scrap friendly project!
